The Rebel Gardener LLC proudly serves the Northeast and beyond, bringing together three generations of experience in horticulture, organic practices, environmental science, landscape design, installation and maintenance, and property management.
Our journey began at home — building our own suburban garden and homestead while working in the environmental consulting and engineering field. What started as a way to provide our family with healthy, high-quality homegrown food quickly grew into a deeper commitment to sustainable land stewardship and practical, real world horticultural solutions.
We are proud to carry forward a Long Island tradition rooted in the work of our grandfathers, Orlando Iaboni and Israel Serrano, who built and maintained suburban nurseries and gardens in Massapequa and Brentwood beginning in the 1950s and 1960s. Their legacy continued through John Iaboni, Owner and Operator of a successful landscaping business for 50 years, and Laura Serrano, a specialist in property management. Today, Marcello Iaboni, Owner and Operator of The Rebel Gardener honors those foundations while embracing modern, efficient, and science-based approaches to horticulture and land management.
The Rebel Gardener specializes in indoor and outdoor organic, sustainable, and regenerative gardens, along with small scale family farms. We embrace the good, bad, and the ugly, from high-end foodscape and native garden design, installation, and maintenance, generic landscape design, installation, and maintenance, chicken coop design, installation, and maintenance, organic pest management, composting, custom property maintenance plans, and one-on-one consulting.
Our goals are simple: to beautify every space we touch, and to help our clients move away from expensive, low-quality store-bought food and toward the pride of growing and harvesting food from their own backyard.
